Visit to some protected areas to discover the variety of Madagascar plants (from the Masoala and Montagne d'Ambre rain forest up to the dry forest of Ankarana)

TOUR

1st day: journey to Paris individually

Individual journey to Paris. On request, it’s possible to start the journey from several airports in Germany to Paris. Please ask for it. In the evening flight to Antananarivo (Tana), the capital city of Madagascar.

2nd day: Arrival at Antananarivo (Ivato-Airport) 3:00 p.m.

Arrival at Antananarivo (Tana), Ivato Airport. Check-out and transfer to the Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast. Welcome and further information about the journey. In the afternoon visit of the Botanical Garden Tsimbazaza with museum. during the morning. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

3th day: Antananarivo - Maroantsetra

Flight to the East coast to Maroantsetra. We spend the in the Hotel Relais de Masoala, bed & breakfast.

4th day: Nosy Mangabe

We row to the island Mangabe, an nearly unspoiled resort. In this reserve the Aye-Aye still lives. There are hardly any tourism but many mosquitoes. Camp, bed and full board.

5th day: Nosy Mangabe - Maroantsetra - Masoala

The morning is dedicated to the island Mangabe. We cross over for lunch to Maroantsetra. Then we start an excursion by boat to the greatest predominant intact rain forest, situated on Masoala. This peninsula is a real Eldorado for biologists.(lots of endemic palmtrees). Camp, bed and full board.

6th day: Masoala - Maroantsetra - Tamatave

One more morning walk in this paradise of Fauna and Flora. Cross over to Maroantsetra and flight to Tamatave, the first port in Madagascar. Hotel Miramar, bed and breakfast.

7th day: Tamatave - Antsiranana - Montagne d’Ambre

In the morning, we have time to visit the city of Tamatave. Then transfer and flight to the north. From the airport Diego we start our trip to the national park Montagne d’Ambre (orchids, giant ferns, shave-grass, pandanus). Camp, bed and full board.

8th day: Journey to Tsingy de Ankarana

In the morning we drive to the reserve of Ankarana. Walks in the reserve, a picturesque landscape with rocks an dry-plant-vegetation (Tsingy). Camp, bed and full board.

9th day: Tsingy de Ankarana

We stay the whole day in the unique chalky formation landscape with its typical Flora and Fauna. Many caves and grottoes. Camp, bed and full board.

10th day: Ambanja - Nosy Be

After breakfast trip to Ambanja and transfer to the ferry. Cross over to Nosy Be, the island of perfumes. We will enjoy the sunset on Mont Passot (sacred crater lake). Bungalow Gerard et Francine or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

11th day: Nosy Be

Today we make an excursion by a catamaran to Nosy Komba, the island of the lemurs and to the protected water reserve of Nosy Tanikely (picnic). Please take your snorkelling equipment with you, to see the wonders under the water. Bungalow Gerard et Francine or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

12th day: Nosy Be - Antananarivo

We go on a trip to the reserve of Lokobe with its boas numerous endemic plants. Visit of a distillery for perfumes and the ocean biological museum. Transfer and flight back to Tana in the evening. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

13th day: Antananarivo - Fort Dauphin - Nahampoana-Reserve

13th day: Antananarivo - Fort Dauphin - Nahampoana-Reserve

14th day: Fort Dauphin - Tulear - Arboretum

Visit the town of Fort Dauphin, which is said to be one of the most charming of Madagascar. Transfer and flight to Tulear at the west coast. Visit of the Arboretum, Madagascar’s largest collection of succulents. After that visit of the ethnological l museum downtown. Hotel Chez Alain or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

15th day: Tulear - Antananarivo

Transfer and flight back to Tana against noon. Time to relaxe and refresh at the hotel. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

16th day: Antananarivo - Paris

This day is at your own disposal. It is possible to visit the artisan market "Marche d’Artisanat" and buy some souvenirs. In the afternoon transfer to the airport Ivato, where we check in for the return flight to Paris. Dinner and breakfast in the aeroplane

17th day: Arrival in Paris

Arrival in Paris. Then individual journey to the respective place of residence.

Information:

Hotel arrangements may be subject to alteration. Departure times of flights can be postponed by as much as several days, as airlines can change their operating days in the course of the year. All remaining trips are then reorganised in accordance with customers’ wishes.

Suitable vehicles are arranged in accordance with the number of travellers (1-8) to ensure the best value. English- or German-speaking guides are available, as is the option to travel without a guide. These trips can also be reorganised on an individual basis depending on areas of interest.

Whether as part of an organised programme or as an extra, we can also offer a few refreshing and therapeutic days for a chance to bathe, as required. Tours on the themes of mineral wealth, ornithology and botany are available by arrangement, but require planning and booking well in advance due to time restraints and the availability of skilled personnel.
