  • small first aid kit (dressing material, disinfectant, remedy against diarrhoea, electrolyte, general-purpose antibiotic, protective agent against insects, cream for burns, ointment).
  • sufficiently big mosquito net (not available in all accommodation)
  • As experience has shown, also useful is packing cord and two to three nails for hanging up a mosquito net or for drying laundry.
  • Sewing kit (important to mend a damaged mosquito net)
  • Guidebook, if need be, a map
  • Dictionary English - French
  • Possibly dictionary English - Madagascan.
  • Torch (important - no electricity at night)
  • Adapter for power sockets of French standard, 110 and 220 volts of alternating current.
  • Multipurpose knife
  • Money belt for passport and money
  • sunglasses, sun hat, sun tan lotion
  • pair of field glasses
  • firm footwear (for planned or spontaneous climbing)
  • light coloured and long-armed clothes in the evening (mosquito bites!)
  • warm clothes and rainwear, depending on place and season. In extreme cases it can get as cold as 0 degrees ).
