10days trip from the highlands to the national park Ranomafana (=hot water). At the end of the trip a stay for relaxation on the perfume island Nosy Be.

TOUR

1st day: journey to Paris

Individual journey to Paris. It’s possible to start the journey from several airports in Germany offering flights to Paris. Please ask. In the evening flight to Antananarivo (Tana), the capital city of Madagascar.

2nd day: Arrival at Antananarivo - Tsimbazaza

Arrival at Ivato Airport (Tana). Check-out and transfer to the Hotel Gregoire (or equivalent). Welcome and further information about the journey. In the afternoon we visit the Botanical Garden Tsimbazaza. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

3th day: Antsirabe - Ambatolampy

After a cosy breakfast our journey starts to Antsirabe through the highlands of Madagascar. In Ambatolampy we will see the manufacturing of handmade aluminium pots and pans. If possible we go to the Mountain of the Shamans. There are many photogenic subjects during the journey to Antsirabe. Hotel Diamant or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

4th day: Antsirabe - Ambositra

City tour at Antsirabe by pousse-pousse. The town is a former health resort with hot springs. Also a visit to one of the volcanic lakes. Afterwards we visit a jewellery cutting workshop. Continuation of our journey to Ambositra, the town of the woodcutters. We pay a visit to a family belonging to the tribe of Zafimaniry.. Hotel Violett or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

5th day: Ambalavao

Trip to Ambalavao at the base of the holy Andringitra-Mountains. This area is partly opened for tourists. In Ambalavao we will observe the traditional making of the world famous Antaimoro-Paper. Hotel Bougainvillees or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

6th day: Fianarantsoa

We drive to Fianarantsoa, the capital city of Betsileo. On the way we see the Madagascar granary. Wine and rice are planted. From the hills of Fiananrantsoa we have a wonderful view to Lak Anosy. Hotel Soafia or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

7th day: Manakara

Ride with a train to Manakara, Eastern Coast (ca. 10 hours for 140 km). Marvellous ride through natural rainforest with Palms and Boaboas (“the tree of the travellers"). Hotel Ampilao Beach or equivalent, bed and breakfast. If the train is not running, we go by car.

8th day: Ranomafana - Nature Reserve

Trip to Ranomafana, Nature Reserve. We watch the animals there by night and day. Flora and Fauna will be explained by a trained guide. Staying overnight in the bungalows of Domaine Nature or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

9th day: National park Ranomafana

Today, we spend the whole day enjoying the natural wonder of this grandiose park or swimming and relaxing in one of the hot springs. Staying overnight in the bungalows of Domaine Nature or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

10th day: Antananarivo

Back to Tana - Lots of possibilities for taking pictures. A long and tiring journey but, except for ca. 20 km, the roads are perfect. Time to relax and refresh ourselves at the Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

11th day: Nosy Be, the island of perfume

Transfer to Ivato and flight to Nosy Be, the famous island of perfume. The island is a resort with a lot of possibilities for all kinds of sports and relaxation. The nightlife is well known also. Bungalows of Gerard et Francine or equivalent, bed and breakfast. The stay on Nosy Be without guides and excursions.

12th day: Nosy Be

At Nosy Be you find possibilities for all kinds of water sports as well as lonely beaches, even a chance to book a sightseeing flight with an Ultralight. Visits to different interesting points like the Mont Passot with its volcanic lakes and its holy crocodiles, a rum factory and a romantic waterfall. Bungalows of Gerard et Francine or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

13th day: Nosy Be

Visit the Nature Reserve of Lokobe with its giant snakes, or the other islands of Nosy Komba and Nosy Tany Kely with flying dogs and lemurs. Bungalows of Gerard et Francine or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

14th day: Tana

Today is our last stay in Nosy Be. Bungalows of Gerard et Francine or equivalent, bed and breakfast.

15th day: Tana

Transfer and flight back to the capital city Tana. Hotel Gregoire or equivalent, bed and breakfast

16th day: Tana - Flight back to Paris

For our last morning on Madagascar we visit the king’s hill Ambohimanga (Blue Hill), with its two hundred year-old palisade fort. Then we visit the famous market “Marche de Artisanat" for souvenirs. In the afternoon transfer to Ivato, check-in and back to Paris.

17th day: Arrival at Paris

Arrival at CDG Airport in Paris and individual journey back home.

Information:

Hotel arrangements may be subject to alteration. Departure times of flights can be postponed by as much as several days, as airlines can change their operating days in the course of the year. All remaining trips are then reorganised in accordance with customers’ wishes.

Suitable vehicles are arranged in accordance with the number of travellers (1-8) to ensure the best value. English- or German-speaking guides are available, as is the option to travel without a guide. These trips can also be reorganised on an individual basis depending on areas of interest.

Whether as part of an organised programme or as an extra, we can also offer a few refreshing and therapeutic days for a chance to bathe, as required. Tours on the themes of mineral wealth, ornithology and botany are available by arrangement, but require planning and booking well in advance due to time restraints and the availability of skilled personnel.
